Diigo Library

Diigo is an incredible resource. Over the past few weeks, I have book marked resources for Social Studies, Science, Math, Reading, Writing, and helpful website with information on Special Education. I am totally digging Diigo!!

Digital Literacy-Animoto

This Animoto was created for the Digital Literacy project for our students. Next week, Renee and I will be introducing the Digital Literacy project and students will be creating their own Animoto as part of their Big 6 research project.  We are so excited to try this with our students.

Digital Story-Plant Cell

As part of the sixth grade curriculum in our district, students study the parts of the animal and plant cells by understanding the definitions and functions of the cells. Together with Renee Benigno, we created a digital story using analogies comparing the cell and its functions to that of a city.  Enjoy!!

Digital Storytelling

I am getting excited to work on my digital storytelling project.  After seeing the students reaction to the Animoto I created, I just know the digital storytelling project will have an even bigger impact on them.  I bet some of the students might even feel inspired to try their own digital story telling project.  This class has truly changed my thinking on how I have been integrating technology into my classroom. However, to catapult students into the 21st century, I am thinking about integrating some of the tools I have learned from this class into my professional goal for next year. Just trying to keep up with the times!!

Reading and Writing Resources

This website has proven to be a great resource for me over the past few months.  I hope that you find the resources as valuable as I have.  It provides resources in both reading and writing.

Reading and Writing Project

There are several videos in this link.  The link provides video of whole group, small group, and individual instruction in the area of both reading and writing.  Great resource!!

Twitter Search

While reading the posts of my peers, one mentioned that they prefer to use Twitter to search for information about certain topics. Also, Twitter search was mentioned in Richardson’s book as a way for teachers to help their students locate information. In my efforts to find out more about Twitter search, I stumbled across this video. It helped me to understand what Twitter search is and how to use it to look for information. This is pretty cool!

Hello Diigo

Well, after several frustrating attempts at loading Diigolet to my toolbar, I was finally able to figure it out. I'd like to say thank to my buddy Renee!  She helped me to not go "all Office Space" on my computer.

Anyway, Diigo is such a helpful tool to use for research and gather ideas for future use.  I can see this as an even better tool than the RRS feeds.  Once I figured it out, I was able to tag several website for this class and for school.  I can see Diigo being an essential tool for the research class I have next semester.

Seven Elements of Culture Animoto

This is my Animoto on the Seven Elements of Culture. I plan to use the Animoto with the sixth grade students I work with as an introduction to the new unit in Social Studies. Knowledge of the Seven Elements of Culture is important for their understanding of other countries culture, to conduct research on other countries, and to compare other countries culture to their own culture.
